About Us

Leaving the corporate world with a desire to teach students new, efficient, and effective ways to improve their day to day lives on the computer, Owner Joanne Swensrude established Know it Sooner Computer Training in 2006.

Now with a team of instructors and administrative staff, Know it Sooner offers fantastic training solutions to users with beginner and expert skill levels.  We are based in Edmonton; however, we are able to deliver classes across Canada and the US either in person, or virtually.

We have the ability to accommodate your learning goals and focus on what is most important to you.

Joanne has been teaching people how to use their computer  since 1988. She found that the more people she trained, the more she realized that she has a passion for showing people how to shave hours off daily tasks and how to produce professional spreadsheets, documents and presentations. It's a great feeling when people realize that they can learn how to do these things themselves, quickly, easily and efficiently!

She's a Computer Systems Technology graduate from NAIT (1992) and has Master/Expert Microsoft Office Specialist Certification. Her experience includes working and teaching in a number of varied workplaces including government, health care, oil and gas, non profit, law firms, small business and training institutions such as MacEwan, University of Alberta, NAIT and Norquest College.

Cathie has been training for over twenty years and has been with Know it Sooner Computer Training since 2017. With a background in Social Work, Cathie brings both technical skills and excellent listening skills. She is able to connect with clients and provide training to those who have minimal experience navigating Microsoft Office™ products. This includes both classroom training as well as one-to-one, more recently through Zoom.

Cathie’s previous experience involved database development and training for not-for-profit organizations wanting to measure their outcomes and achievements. In addition to her work with computer training, Cathie is a corporate business coach and soon-to-be published author.
